(Will start directly in this thread, instead of making a new one in the girls' dorms only to move here after a few posts, to keep it all in one place.)
Nathan headed to the girls' dorms. He was dressed in a black suit, with the only speck of colour being his red bow tie. It wasn't that he minded other colours, it was more about his mother thinking he didn't know what colours went together, and thus, when she bought his clothes, she picked out only black ones, to make sure he couldn't get it wrong.
Still, black was pretty cool - very spy-like, at least. Though Nathan might not look entirerly like a spy as he made his way through the halls, as his walk was slightly less elegant, and his left hand was somewhere deep in his pocket. In his other hand, however, was a flower, because this was the sort of occassion where giving away a flower might be a good idea, he thought. Not that he himself knew all that much about them, yet, but last night he had called his mother to ask what kind of flower might be a good idea to give to a girl he hoped to be friends with, and she had suggested a white chrysanthemum. Apparantly it was supposed to symbolise truth and friendship, and Nathan thought the silent languages of flowers seemed somehow appropriate for a girl who never spoke.
That wasn't true, he knew - after all, he had heard her speak before, but she was still very silent, and he didn't think that had changed still, just because she had spoken once.
Finally he got to the girls' dorms and knocked on the door, telling any bypassing teacher that he was just there to pick Harem up for the dance.

Harem nervously picked up her gown from the mail carrier. Her mother and aunt bought her a dress and some accessories to go with it. Go back to her room, she tried it on.
A perfect fit. she thought.
The dress was black and green. It had fish nets covering her shoulders, and a bit of her arms. The nets connected to her top which was in a corset style and two long gloves. Attached to the corset was a black cloth that reached the ground and covered her feet as she walked.
So troublesome...
She left her hair down, and straightened her short curls. She applied black lipstick and light green eye shadow.
Practicing walking with her heels around her dorm room, harem heard the door.
She opened and saw Nathan.

Nathan smiled what he hoped was a friendly smile at Harem and held out the flower for her, hoping she would, well, like it.
"Hi Harem, I brought you this flower, because I thought maybe you'd like it," he said, and then cursed himself internally for being so non-smooth. "It's a crysanthemum, and Mum said they symbolise friendship, so I thought that was a good idea, because I really hope we can be friends."
'Well, if she didn't think you were an idiot before, she sure will now,' he thought to himself. Of course, he didn't know just why he was this nervous, but there was something about going to the dance with a pretty girl that just made his brain lock up and go on a vacation. His brain was probably off on a sunny beach somewhere, relaxing in the shade with a cool drink.
"So, are you ready to go? I mean, not to rush you or anything. It's ok if you're not. I can wait. So, you know... yeah." He looked at her again, hoping she'd help him out of this embarrassing situation he seemed to have put himself in.

Harem nodded and put the flower in a vase filled with water.
She went back to the door and mouthed an "Thank you." The girl knew that she couldn't write all the time, so at least she could mouth things, right? But as long as she doesn't use her voice. But, just in case, she had a small notepad and a pen in her purse.
Closing her door and locking it, she turned around and smiled slightly.

Nathan relaxed a little when it seemed Harem didn't mind his bumbling speech all that much, at least. He cleared his throat a little and offered her his arm. "Shall we go, then?"
He wasn't sure if she had just mouthed the words, or if she had actually said them, but if she had, it had been so low he couldn't hear them. Still, that was the second time he had seen her open her mouth to communicate, which made him feel slightly odd. Did she do that to anyone she was alone with, or was he just an exception?
With the hand he wasn't offering to Harem, he tried to brush away the hair from his eyes, to no greater success. At least she seemed ready to go - that was good, wasn't it? Then they'd be among people soon and maybe things wouldn't be awkward any more. He hoped.

Harem took Nathan by the arm, unsure of the gesture at first. But then she rememberd her Aunt's instructions on dance and courting.
She waited for Nathan to lead the way.

Nathan led the way to the dance. Well, so far, so good. He llooked at the girl by his side, pretty certain that spies were supposed to be a bit more smooth than he felt right now.
"You..." he started, then stopped momentarily to wonder what he was going to say. "I think that dress looks good, you look nice in it. I mean, you always look nice, but you look more so in that dress. Or, uhm... it's a nice dress, anyway. Is it new?" He blushed a little and bit his bottom lip while trying to keep himself from making more of a fool of himself.
Music could be heard ahead of them, apparantly the dance had already started.

the brunette turned toward Nathan.
"Yes.. my mother bought it for me." Harem said in a quite voice. Inside she was punishing herself for talking.
Why does it keep happening?!
She looked down to inspect herself and added "You look handsome in that too..." A pinkish tint covered her cheeks.
Hearing the music harem looked at the door. "We should go in..."

Nathan was quite pink as well after her comment, though part of him was jumping high. She thought he looked good in his suit! That was great! Though he didn't really know what to say to that, so he settled for a simple "Thanks."
Considering how much she was talking now, he was almost sort of shocked. Maybe he had her confused with someone else on the school, and Harem wasn't really the one who always was silent? Or maybe he picked up her identical twin instead? Or... something. After all, she had spoken three sentences in about as many minutes, or perhaps even less.
He nodded in response to her last words. "Yeah, let's," he said, and with that, led her in through the doors into the light and the noise that was the dance.

The room was filled with people dancing and drinking (fruit punch). The hall was beautifully decorated. The student were enjoying themselves and teachers watched as they chaperoned the whole fiesta.
Harem, not used to being with so many people at once, gripped Nathan's hand a little harder than necessary.
This is not good... she thought. Why are there so many students out here tonight?

At first, Nathan was a little taken back as well, but once he had adjusted to the contrast from walking to the dance and actually being there, he relaxed a bit. He looked at Harem, who was holding on to him pretty tight.
"Are you alright?" he asked. "Do you want to dance? Or, uhm... do you want to sit down? Or have something to drink, I could get you something to drink if you want..." he wasn't sure if he was acting like he should, but figured she hadn't slapped him yet, at least, so hopefully he still had some manners, at least.

Harem opened her mouth to speak, but then she closed it right away. Somehow she didn't feel comfortable speaking right now. Harem pointed to the juice bowl in hope of getting the point across.

Looking in the way she had nodded, Nathan saw the juice bowl, and assuming it meant she wanted to have something to drink, he led her that way, picking up one glass to offer to her, as well as grabbing one glass for himself.
"Many people here tonight," he commented as he sipped the fruit punch and looked around. He saw some of his classmates out there, and nodded when one of them passed by, but then looked back to Harem. She seemed less at ease in here, really, but he didn't know what to do about that, so he decided to wait and see - maybe she just needed a little time.

Harem nodded her head.
i am probably ruining this night for him... She thought.
Maybe i should ask him to dance? But all those people are there and this song looks like it's about to end. The next one then?
Drinking out of her glass, harem contemplated on asking Nathan to dance.
